Birmingham’s bid to reach the Championship playoffs remain alive after a 3-1 win over lowly Doncaster Rovers on Friday night.
Frederic Piquionne opened the scoring for Doncaster after just four minutes before David Murphy equalised for the visitors at Keepmoat Stadium just 11 minutes later.
The goal seemed to lift Birmingham, who went into the clash with just one win in their past eight matches.
Nikola Zigic was giving Rovers all sorts of headaches with a couple of narrow misses.
Despite the Blues’ attack on the goal in the second half, Doncaster could count themselves unlucky not to have scored themselves.
Simon Gillett’s shot was blocked on the line by Boaz Myhill, before El-Hadji Diouf sprayed a shot over the bar.
Just as it seemed Doncaster was getting on top, Birmingham burst their bubble with two second-half goals to seal victory.
First, Chris Burke curled in a left-footed shot from 25 yards out on 61 minutes before Marlon King secured the three points 10 minutes before the final whistle when he tapped in a simple goal from a Murphy cross.
The win moves Birmingham up to fourth in the league, while Doncaster are mired at the bottom of the table.
