Huddersfield Town have continued Crystal Palace’s poor run in 2013 with a 1-0 win to claim much-needed points in the English Championship.

James Vaughan scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute as Huddersfield notched their first victory in 13 league games, while Palace remain stuck on one win in the New Year.

Wednesday’s result sees Palace remain fifth on the Championship standings, 12 points behind leaders Cardiff City.

Palace’s last victory came on New Year’s Day when they defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1.

Ian Holloway’s side have not won in their past five games across all competitions including league defeats away to Burnley and Huddersfield split by a scoreless home draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Huddersfield’s win will come as some relief after their 4-0 thumping away to Watford in their last league fixture, with the Yorkshire club moving up to 16th on 36 points, eight clear of the relegation zone.
