Derby County scored twice at Nottingham Forest but still lost in a seven-goal Championship thriller on Wednesday.

Level on 30 points prior to kick-off at the City Ground, both clubs were eying a chance to draw closer to the play-off places with a win.

It did not take long for the home team to take the advantage, with defender Luke Chambers heading in Poland international Radoslaw Majewski’s corner after just two minutes.

On-loan West Brom striker Luke Moore hit the fourth goal of his season to square the ledger, but Forest skipped ahead 3-1 by half-time courtesy of a 21-minute double from former Derby forward Marcus Tudgay.

Another ex-Ram in Rob Earnshaw made it 4-1 eight minutes into the second half, only for Kris Commons – who spent five seasons at Forest – to briefly raise hopes of a Derby fightback with his goal on 55 minutes.

But Earnshaw reminded his former club of his quality by sealing the points for Forest in the shadows of full time, moving his side into eighth and just one point from the play-off places.

Derby sink to 12th, and have played two more games than their Wednesday conquerors.
