Promotion-hungry Reading have ended Preston North End’s three-game winning streak in the Championship with a 2-1 win on Tuesday.

Mali winger Jimmy Kebe opened the scoring for the Royals at the Madejski Stadium with a headed effort, ensuring his side went into half-time with a 1-0 advantage.

Despite drawing parity through an unfortunate own goal from Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, relegation-threatened Preston saw their winning-run halted when Wales international Hal Robson-Kanu scored for the home side.

The result leaves Preston stumped at second-last while Reading are still in the hunt for promotion to the English Premier League, sitting at sixth on the table.
