It took an eighty-ninth minute strike from Jack Harrison to see Leeds United maintain their unbeaten start to the season against Millwall at the Den on Saturday afternoon.

Jed Wallace had put the hosts in front ten minutes into the second half only for summer signing Harrison to grab his first goal for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who remain top of the league though they are just one point ahead of the chasing pack ahead of the midweek fixtures.

A goal in each half from Neal Maupay saw Brentford beat Wigan Athletic 2-0 at Griffin Park.

The visitors were reduced to ten men after Sam Morsy was dismissed on fifty-eight minutes handing a further advantage to the Bees, who are now up to second, ahead of Bristol City on goal difference after the Robins edged past Sheffield United at Ashton Gate – Marley Watkins with the only goal of the game.

Middlesbrough are down to fourth after losing for the first time this season – Teemu Pukki scoring the winner for Norwich City to give them a much welcomed three points while Swansea City moved into the play-offs after their goalless draw with Nottingham Forest, who are now just three points above the relegation zone.

Despite being one of the preseason favourites for relegation, Aitor Karanka’s side have won just one of their opening seven league games and can now be backed at 12/5 to finish in the top six.

Forest’s East Midlands rivals Derby County slipped out of the play-off places after losing at Rotherham United while West Bromwich Albion head a trio of three sides just a point behind the dotted line after drawing 1-1 with Birmingham City on Friday evening.

Sheffield Wednesday came from two goals down to salvage a point against Stoke City at Hillsbrough while Bolton Wanders are now without a win in three after losing at home to Queens Park Rangers.

Having started the season with four straight defeats Steve McClaren’s side have now taken seven points from the last nine available to them, a tally which sees them sitting in eighteenth place.

Ipswich Town remain rock bottom after losing 2-0 to Hull City, who move up to seventeenth while Reading and Preston North End are twenty-second and twenty-third respectively following their five-goal thriller at Deepdale.

Having twice got back on level terms, the hosts left empty handed after Leandro Bacunu netted a winner late on to hand the Royals their first win of the season.

Finally, Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa remain level on points in the middle of the table after playing out a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park in Saturday’s late kick-off.

Bradley Dack put the hosts in front on seventy-six minutes but a sublime stoppage-time free kick from Conor Hourihane gave Villa a deserved draw.
