Championship wrap: Palace stay top, Cardiff beat ´Boro

Crystal Palace continue to set the pace in the Championship, as Cardiff leapfrogged Middlesbrough into second place.

Ian Holloway’s Palace outfit stayed top of the table thanks to a 3-0 thumping of Derby Country, with a brace from Glenn Murray and a goal from Andre Moritz enough to see them take all three points at Selhurst Park.

In Cardiff, meanwhile, a 19th-minute goal from Matthew Connolly was enough to see the home side defeat Middlesbrough 1-0 and move above them into second place, just two points behind Palace.

In other results, Leicester City stayed in fifth place after their 6-0 mauling of Ipswich Town.

David Nugent scored two goals for Nigel Pearson’s side, with the other goals coming from Lloyd Dyer, Antony Knockaert, Martin Waghorn and Marko Futacs.

Hull City remain fourth after their 3-2 victory at Birmingham City.

Two goals from Sone Aluko and another from James Chester had Hull 3-0 up inside of 33 minutes, but Ravel Morrison pulled one back for the home side before the break, and when Marlon King scored another just a minute into the second half it was game on at St Andrew’s.

But try as they might, Birmingham could not find a leveller and they dropped to 19th place.

Elsewhere, Bristol City and Blackpool played out a 1-1 draw, while Brighton and Hove Albion climbed to sixth place courtesy of a 2-1 win at Huddersfield Town.

A late own goal from Miguel Llera condemned Sheffield Wednesday to a 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest, Watford accounted for Wolves 2-1 at Vicarage Road, Charlton ran out 1-0 winners at Burnley and Bolton Wanderers were held to a 1-1 draw with Barnsley at Reebok Stadium.
