Charles N’Zogbia set for Aston Villa switch

Wigan midfielder Charles N’Zogbia is set to complete a move to Aston Villa, after the two clubs agreed on a transfer fee.

According to Press Association Sport, the transfer fee has been agreed and all that’s left is for the player to agree personal terms.

Wigan had previously rejected a £9 million offer from Aston Villa, but the Latics have reportedly accepted the latest bid for the Frenchman, which is just half a million higher than the original offer.

With N’Zogbia’s current deal expiring in year’s time, the Latics were forced to try and cash in on their prized asset and the deal with Aston Villa could benefit all three parties.

The Frenchman is expected to agree personal terms with the Villans and undergo a medical at Villa Park.

New Villa manager Alex McLeish was desperate to sign a winger after both Ashley Young and Stuart Downing had left the club.

It is interesting that McLeish had tried to sign the player while at Birmingham, but the move eventually fell through after the Frenchman failed to agree personal terms.

Valencia president rules out Mata sale

Valencia president Manuel Llorente has moved to deny speculations that Juan Mata will leave Mestalla this summer.

The highly rated winger was linked with a number of big European clubs following another impressive season at Valencia, but it looks as though he will not be allowed to leave the club.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City have all expressed interest in the Spain international, and the player himself recently hinted that he could leave this summer.

Even Valencia coach Unai Emery recently revealed that the club might be forced to consider offers because of the poor financial situation.

“The possibility exists that Mata will leave the club,” Valencia manager Emery told Marca.

“We want him to stay and Mata has also expressed his desire to stay at Valencia, but at the same time we cannot stop a player who really wants to leave for money or for a bigger club.

“So, if there is a large financial offer from any club, that is good for both us and him, we will have to let him leave.”

However, the club president Manuel Llorente has now ruled out such a possibility.

“The decision is clear and money will not change our position,” Llorente told Superdeporte.

“Valencia will not sell to any club that wants to buy Mata.”

Wolfsburg sign Germany international

Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg have announced the capture of midfielder Christian Trasch from Stuttgart.

The Germany international has signed a four-year deal with the Wolves, while the cost of the transfer was not revealed.

Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath was delighted with the club’s latest capture.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to work together with a player like Christian Trasch,” Magath told club’s official website.

“He is a superb team player with a lot of stamina. He has the energy to do plenty of defensive work, but also shows up in dangerous positions going forward.”

The 23-year-old midfielder said he was looking forward to the new challenge.

“Wolfsburg have a bright future ahead. Magath has a lot of ambition and I’m looking forward to being part of his plans.

“I want to play my part in helping Wolfsburg to the top of the Bundesliga. We have a great team and some excellent individual players.”

Trasch has amassed over 80 Bundesliga appearances for the Swabians, scoring five goals in the process and he has two Germany caps to his name.
