Russian daily newspaper Izvestia has learned that Lokomotiv Moscow are on the verge of signing midfielder Cheick Tiote from Newcastle United.
The Russian giants are on the lookout for a new holding midfielder as star player Lassana Diarra is desperate to leave in the summer transfer window.
According to Izvestia, Lokomotiv are in advanced talks to sign Cheick Tiote from Newcastle, with the Magpies reportedly accepting the latest offer for the Ivorian.
All that’s left now is to try and persuade the player to move to Russia, although that is not going to be an easy task.
Tiote, 28, has proved to be one of club’s best signings in recent years, having made 107 Premier League appearances since joining from Twente four years ago.
The Ivorian has been linked with a number of England’s top sides in recent months, but Lokomotiv Moscow were the first club to make a concrete offer for his services.
