Chelsea captain John Terry had to be stretchered off the pitch after just quarter of an hour of his side's crucial final Premier League game of the season against Bolton on Sunday.
Terry appeared to land awkwardly while challenging for a high cross in his own penalty area and was in great pain, slapping the turf with his hand to indicate his distress.
It was not immediately clear what injury the England international had suffered.
He was replaced by Juliano Belletti in the Chelsea defence.
Chelsea face Manchester United in the Champions League final in Moscow on May 21.
