Premier League holders Chelsea are reportedly close to reaching an agreement for Boca Juniors forward Jonathan Calleri, L’Equipe quoted the Argentine media as saying.
The Blues are believed to have had a €9 million offer accepted for the 22-year-old footballer, with the transfer set to be wrapped up in the coming weeks.
Once the deal goes through, Chelsea plan to farm out the forward on loan until the end of the season to ensure he continues to play first team football on regular basis.
It was only a matter of time before Calleri left Boca Juniors after helping the Argentine giants lift the league trophy by scoring 10 goals in 26 outings.
The centre forward, who can also operate on either wing, had joined La Xeneize from All Boys in the summer of 2014 and he quickly managed to prove his worth and secure a lucrative move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
