Chelsea and Manchester City in Song tussle

Chelsea and Manchester City are set to battle for the services of Barcelona midfielder Alex Song this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The 27 year old has spent this season on loan with West Ham United, for whom he has made thirty appearances in all competitions, but is not expected to stay at Upton Park next year.

Italian duo AC Milan and Roma are expected to rival the Premier League’s top two for Song’s signature with a stay at the Catalan club highly unlikely.

Crucially for both English clubs, the former Arsenal man qualifies as a home grown player having spent six years with the North London club earlier is his career, three of which were before his twenty-first birthday.

Song is expected to play his final game in claret and blue as Sam Allardyce’s side travel to relegation threatened Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, with the Hammers priced at 15/4 for the win.
