According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea and Arsenal are both interested in the possibility of signing Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
The two London-based sides are looking ahead to the summer transfer window, if it actually happens, as they consider enhancing their defensive options. Both Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard are both going to be eager to make an impact this summer, as they try and restore their respective former glories.
The belief is that Lampard would’ve made an approach for Umtiti during last year’s summer transfer window, if it wasn’t for the transfer ban that had been handed down to them by UEFA.
The Blues have already been in contact with Umtiti’s agent Arturo Canales, whereas Arsenal have struggled with problems at the back for as long as most fans can remember. Whether or not Umtiti is the solution to their problems, however, remains to be seen.
