Chelsea have reached the semifinals of this season’s Carabao Cup by beating Newcastle on penalties in their quarterfinal clash at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Interestingly enough, the Magpies appeared on their way to win after Callum Wilson put them ahead in the 16th minute, but Mykhaylo Mudryk equalized in the second-half stoppage time. The contest went into a penalty shootout, and with Kieran Trippier and Matt Ritchie both failing to score from the spot, the Blues emerged triumphant.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was obviously happy with his team.
