Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Premier League giants Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Spanish full-back Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina.
The Blues want the former Bolton Wanderers defender to challenge fellow Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta for a starting berth after Baba Rahman was allowed to join Schalke.
Chelsea have reportedly started the bidding at €22 million and with Fiorentina holding out for €25 million, an agreement could be reached soon.
Marcos Alonso, 25, has enjoyed several very successful seasons at Artemio Franchi and he has been linked with quite a few top clubs in the past.
The Real Madrid graduate has some Premier League experience, having represented Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland in the past.
His suitors Chelsea have enjoyed a perfect start under new manager Antonio Conte, winning their first three Premier League fixtures, and are now 9/2 chance to lift the coveted trophy.
