Internacional midfielder Oscar could be close to joining Chelsea in one of the biggest deals in Brazilian football, that’s according to Sky Sports.
The 20-year-old has grabbed plenty of attention from clubs in this summer’s transfer window, but Chelsea look be leading the way for his signature ahead of London rivals Tottenham.
The Brazilian side are after a lot of money for one of their star men though and club president Giovanni Luigi says that the Blues are not far away from signing Oscar.
He said: “I want the transfer of Oscar to be the biggest transfer deal ever in Brazilian football, and the Chelsea offer isn’t that far from that.”
Roberto Di Matteo seems to be interested in the Brazilian international as he looks to build a squad that can retain their Champions League title as well as making a challenge for top spot in the English Premier League.
Oscar’s position is one that the Blues do have a lot of options in though, especially with the arrival of Edin Hazard so they may be wary of breaking the bank for him.
However, in the current game strength in depth is key and with games coming thick and fast, a big squad is vital.
Spurs may still play a part in this story though as could come in with a bigger bid than the Stamford Bridge team.
We shall see.
