Chelsea closing in on Costa deal

Chelsea are confident of securing a summer deal for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, according to the Mirror.

The Spain international has been one of the stand-out performers in Diego Simone’s side this season, with his thirty-four goals in all competitions helping fire them to the top of La Liga, and the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Simeone has admitted that it would be difficult to keep hold of the 27 year old, with Chelsea ready to offer a £50m deal.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his dissatisfaction with his current forward line, with Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba managing just sixteen Premier League goals between them.

Chelsea face Atleti in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Vicente Calderon on Tuesday evening, and are priced at 16/5 to win the match, with the second leg to be played at Stamford Bridge eight days later.
