Chelsea have completed the signing of Germany international Andre Schurrle on a five year contract.
The 22 year old becomes the first signing of Jose Mourinho’s second spell as manager of the Blues, and joins from Bayer Leverkusen, where he scored eleven goals in thirty-four league appearances last season.
He can play both out wide and centrally behind the forwards though it is unclear how he will be deployed by his new club.
His career began with Mainz 05, helping them to fifth place in the Bundesliga in his second and final season before securing an €8 million move to Leverkusen two years ago.
He has also won twenty-four caps for the German national team, scoring seven goals.
Schurrle will wear the number fourteen shirt that was last season allocated to Kevin De Bruyne, though the Belgian international is expected to be at Stamford Bridge next season despite interest from Germany.
