Chelsea consider Ramsdale move

In light of the news that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is expected to be sidelined with a knee injury for a while, Chelsea are considering the possibility of moving for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, according to TalkSport.

There are expectations for Ramsdale to ask to leave Arsenal, having lost his place between the posts to David Raya, but it remains unclear if the Gunners would allow that to happen, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to have to high-quality shot-stoppers in his ranks.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino recently stated that he doesn’t believe his current crop of players is good enough to challenge for more than the middle section of the Premier League table. Sanchez felt a problem in his knee during the Blues’ 1-0 defeat away to Manchester United last week and asked to be substituted, Pochettino revealed after the game. At this point, no date has been set for his expected return, and at the club they’re hopeful his absence won’t be too long.

Nonetheless, it seems a move for Ramsdale might be a part of Chelsea’s winter transfer business which Pochettino has called for. The 25-year-old is an England international, and he would likely be open to leaving the Emirates in search of regular game-time ahead of the upcoming Euros next year.

On the other hand, his move to Stamford Bridge would arguably raise the question of his fate once Sanchez returns from injury. Newcastle have also been credited with interest in his services.
