Premier League giants Chelsea seem to be on a crazy target man hunt in this January transfer window, having looked at both Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch already this month. Today however there is a new name on their list, which is presumably part of some very early preparatios for April Fools Day, and that is of Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.
The Blues are reportedly keen on taking the former Liverpool man (see the theme developing for their April Fools joke yet?) out on loan, according to the Mail, which is not something that Palace are overly keen on.
The Eagles are sitting in 13th place in the table at the time of writing, but only actually find themselves four points from safety, meaning that they could well need their big Belgian striker for the remainder of the season.
Quite why Chelsea want a target man is beyond anyone’s comprehension, unless Antonio Conte firmly believes that the addition of such a player could help his side secure a top four finish. They currently sit in third, so perhaps he’s right.
