Despite Arsenal leading the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, according to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are convinced they still have a chance to land the Slovenia international themselves.
Sesko’s contract with the Bundesliga side is believed to contain a release clause set at €65 million, which makes a transfer to the Premier League very plausible ahead of the summer window. And while Arsenal hope to bring the price down somewhat through negotiations, Chelsea could be prepared to trigger the clause and jump to the front of the queue.
The Blues have been monitoring the situation with Napoli star Victor Osimhen for a while now, but the amount in excess of £100 million which would be required to sign the Nigerian striker is apparently deemed too high at Stamford Bridge at this point. Brighton’s Evan Ferguson is another player they’ve maintained an interest in, but they aren’t thought likely to make a move for the 19-year-old just yet.
