Chelsea have decided against a move for Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. The well-known and well-respected reporter has claimed that former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea do not want to pay the £100 million transfer fee that Sporting demand. It is his release clause.
Jacobs said on The Done Deal Show: “I know there has been talk of Viktor Gyokeres who is doing incredibly well, but there’s a £100m release clause there and my understanding is that Chelsea have decided against that.”
Gyokeres has been on the books of Sporting since the summer of 2023 when he moved from English club Coventry City. The 25-year-old Sweden international forward has scored 11 goals and given five assists in 14 Liga Portugal matches and has scored three goals and provided one assist in five UEFA Europa League games this season.
