Chelsea extension for Thiago Silva?

According to a recent report from Le10Sport, Chelsea officials are convinced Thiago Silva deserves a one-year extension.

The 36-year-old veteran may have had a rocky start to his tenure at Stamford Bridge but as the season has gone on, he has served as the rock at the heart of the Blues’ defence.

In many ways the remainder of the season could well depend on Silva’s fitness and ability to start consistently for Thomas Tuchel’s side because believe it or not, he’s still one of the best defenders in the game today even at 36.

One of Chelsea’s biggest positives since Tuchel arrived at the club is their defensive stability. Given the understanding Silva and Tuchel have from their time at Paris Saint-Germain, it should come as no surprise whatsoever that Chelsea feel like they’d be better off left together.

If he goes, they’d need to find one hell of a replacement.
