Chelsea’s Willian has revealed that he is unlikely to sign a new contract with the London Blues.
The Brazilian’s future has been a subject of much speculation in recent months, with his current deal set to expire this summer and links with Barcelona and Juventus popping up rather frequently. Reports claimed that there were negotiations about a new one, only for a significant disagreement between the club and the player to arise. It seems Chelsea are unwilling to offer what Willian is demanding – another three years. It is a reflection of their long-standing policy of not being too happy to give players over 30 long-term deals.
Speaking to Fox Sports show Expediente Futebol (via Sky Sports), Willian confirmed that the length of a potential new contract was the biggest obstacle in the negotiations, which have been consequently abandoned for the time being. He refused to rule anything out, but he admitted that an agreement at the moment seems unlikely.
