Chelsea are interested in signing Ivan Toney from Brentford in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror. The report has claimed that the Bees are bracing themselves for bids for the former Newcastle United striker before the summer transfer window closes on September 1.
Former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea are looking for a new striker following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan earlier in the summer transfer window. The Blues are keen on signing former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona, but the London club are also monitoring Toney.
Toney has been on the books of Brentford since the summer of 2020 when he joined from Peterborough United. The 26-year-old striker has scored two goals and given two assists in three Premier League appearances for the Bees so far this season. During the 2020-21 campaign, the English striker scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 32 league starts for Brentford.
