Chelsea eye Leicester’s Wesley Fofana

Chelsea are considering the possibility of trying to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City in the summer, according to Goal.com.

The Champions League holders are struggling to tie down either Antonio Rudiger or Andreas Christensen to a new contract, and with their current contracts expiring at the end of the season, the need to strengthen the central defence area of the squad will be sterner with each passing day between now and the summer. Rudiger seems to have had his head turned by Real Madrid and Chelsea appear resigned to his departure, but they are still hoping to keep the services of Christensen.

Chelsea reportedly tried to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla this summer and the player was keen on the idea, but they refused to meet the La Liga side’s asking price and the deal fell through.

As for Fofana, the Under-21 France international hasn’t played at all this season, nor is he likely to, having suffered a broken leg in a pre-season friendly against Villarreal in August, but Chelsea don’t see that as a big problem.
