Premier League giants Chelsea are stepping up their efforts to sign Napoli stopper Kalidou Koulibaly, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Blues plan to reinforce the back line after a disappointing season that is likely to result in Europa League qualification and the Azzurri star has emerged as their top target.
Koulibaly has impressed ever since he joined Napoli from Genk four years ago and it was his last-gasp goal in the title derby with Juventus that kept the Azzurri’s Serie A title hopes alive.
Besides scoring 5 league goals this season, the 26-year-old has been a real rock in the back for Napoli and it is hardly surprising that top European clubs are after his signature.
Koulibaly has a deal until June 2021 at Stadio San Paolo that also contains a €70 million release clause.
