Chelsea eyeing Koke
Catalan daily newspaper Sport has suggested that Chelsea are hot on the trail of Atletico Madrid hotshot Koke.
The Blues recently signed Filipe Luis from the Spanish giants, but the Brazilian has already returned to Vicente Calderon following a disappointing start to his career in England.
Nevertheless, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is now eyeing another Atletico Madrid star as the latest reports suggest he is keen on luring Koke to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues want the Spain international to try and help them get their season back on track and are readying a January bid for his services.
But, with Barcelona showing interest as well, Chelsea could face stiff competition for the midfielder’s signature.
Koke quickly developed into one of Spain’s top footballers and he has so far scored 15 goals in 153 La Liga appearances for Atletico Madrid.
Salvio to be offered new Benfica deal
Portuguese daily newspaper O Jogo understands that Benfica representatives are in the process of drafting a fresh contract offer for star player Eduardo Salvio.
The Argentine midfielder has already rejected two proposals by the club and if it hadn’t been for the knee injury he would probably now be a Paris Saint-Germain footballer.
Considering that Salvio has less than two years left on his current deal, the club officials have invited his representative Agustin Jimenez for a new round of talks.
Nevertheless, it would appear as though the 25-year-old is holding out for a big club move, although he will first need to prove his fitness.
The good news is that Salvio has already resumed light training and should be back in action at the start of November.
He was obviously not included in Argentina squad for the opening 2018 World Cup qualifiers, with La Albiceleste priced at 21/20 to defeat Paraguay and make amends for the shock loss to Ecuador.
Former Lyon defender finds new club
French defender Mouhamadou Dabo is on the verge of agreeing a deal with Ligue 1 strugglers Troues, L’Equipe can reveal.
The 28-year-old was released from his contract at Lyon this summer despite making 13 league starts last term.
He has since been unable to find a new club, but the long search appears to be finally over as Dabo is set to join Troyes.
L’Equipe has learned that the experienced defender has reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 side and should sign a contract until the end of the season in the coming days.
Mouhamadou Dabo came through the youth ranks at Saint Etienne and also played for Sevilla before joining Lyon in the summer of 2011.
The full-back has since made 68 league appearances for les Gones, without registering a single goal in the process.
