Chelsea are leading the race to sign Internazionale striker Mauro Icardi, according to the Daily Star.
The 21 year old is yet to sign a new deal with Roberto Mancini’s side, so could be sold at the end of the season with a number of clubs monitoring his situation.
Liverpool and Barcelona have also been linked with the one-time Argentina international, but it is Jose Mourinho’s side who are in pole position.
Since arriving at the Giuseppe Meazza from Sampdoria in the summer of 2013, Icardi has achieved a goal scoring ratio of almost one every two games in all competitions.
He made his international debut in a 3-2 defeat to Uruguay in qualifying for last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil though stiff competition for places has seen him not been called up since.
Prior to making his senior bow, he scored three goals in five appearances for the U20s.
