Chelsea go after de Jong

According to a recent report from Marca, Chelsea are set to launch a bid to try and sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

For the longest time now it’s seemed as if Manchester United, if anyone, would be the club to try and take de Jong away from the Nou Camp. As it turns out, though, the Blues have reportedly been waiting until the ‘last minute’ of the summer transfer window in order to launch their bid, likely in an effort to catch other elite clubs off guard somewhat.

Frenkie de Jong has reportedly been at loggerheads with Barca over his future for a while now and with this latest story coming down the pipeline, you’d have to think United will be feeling pretty frustrated that they haven’t been able to get him in.

After all, a lot of their core problems, you could argue, have come from their inability to keep things steady in the middle of the park.
