Following a highly successful opening round, the talks between Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino over the vacant managerial post at Stamford Bridge have moved on to the next round, according to multiple sources. It seems the chances of the former Tottenham Hotspur boss taking over at Chelsea are increasing at the moment.
Despite his last job, at Paris Saint-Germain, being widely labeled as failure, Pochettino recorded notable results in England, first with Southampton between January 2013 and the summer of 2014, and then for five years with Spurs, who became a regular feature of the Champions League from 2016 to this season. They even reached the final of UEFA’s elite competition, losing 2-0 to Liverpool in 2019.
Chelsea were apparently close to choosing boss Julian Nagelsmann as the successor to the sacked Graham Potter, but the former RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich boss has reportedly pulled out of that race and the Blues have moved on, with Pochettino now held to be the favourite to land the job.
