The Metro understand that Chelsea have made a £63.5m bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.
The reigning Premier League champions, who recently named Antonio Conte as their new manager are ready to smash the British transfer record for the Spain international as they look to rebuild after a dissapointing 2015/16 campaign.
The thirty year old has been at the Bernabeu for the past eleven seasons and he is closing in on five hundred appearnces for the club in all competitions, scoring fifty-seven goals.
Ramos would be seen as the ideal replacement for either Branislav Ivanovic or captain John Terry, both linked with Stamford Bridge exits this summer.
The proposed fee is far superior to what the Blues paid for fellow Spaniard Fernando Torres and is also higher than the current British record, which was set by Manchester United in the summer of 2014 when they purchased Angel Di Maria from Real.
