Premier League champions Chelsea are hot on the trail of Lazio stopper Stefan de Vrij, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Blues attempted to recruit the Netherlands starlet a year ago, only to have a €30 million bid rejected by the Biancocelesti, but a lot has changed since.
With De Vrij highly unlikely to extend his contract that is due to expire in June 2018, Lazio are forced to sell in the summer transfer window, but will have to settle for lot less.
Chelsea are now set to return for the highly rated footballer and they are expected to submit a formal proposal in the coming weeks, while the Biancocelesti seem to have already found a replacement for the 25-year-old having submitted a €14 million bid for Rodrigo Caio.
Stefan de Vrij largely impressed after arriving from Feyenoord, despite missing almost a year of action through a serious injury.
