Chelsea are weighing up a summer move for Everton full-back Leighton Baines, according to Sunday People.
The Blues were looking to sign the 28-year-old as a replacement for Ashley Cole, who looked to be on his way out of the club.
Despite the England international now likely to remain at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea officials are not giving up on Baines.
They seem to have lost faith in Ryan Bertrand and are keen to sign the Everton man to provide competition for Cole.
The only problem is that Manchester United are also keen and could join the race for the highly rated defender.
Leighton Baines arrived at Goodison Park from Wigan in the summer of 2007 and quickly developed into one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
Since making his move from Lancashire, he has made a total of 198 league appearances for the Toffees, scoring 16 goals in the process.
