Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech remains confident his side can win the title and thinks Manchester United’s busy schedule will help on that front.
Cech’s side closed to within nine points of Sir Alex Ferguson’s men after they won 2-0 against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and with a game in hand have an outside chance of being back-to-back English Premier League champions.United’s compact schedule includes an FA Cup semi-final with rivals Manchester City, while they also face Chelsea three more times this season, with one league meeting coming in addition to a two-legged UEFA Champions League quarter-final.When quizzed if it was realistic to say that Chelsea still stood a chance of winning the Premier League, Cech told iDnes.cz: “Yes.” Manchester must spread energy into three competitions because apart from the Premier League they are still in the FA Cup and in the Champions League quarter-final against us.”The Old Trafford outfit has also been hit with several injuries with Rafael, Rio Ferdinand and John O’Shea all sidelined.Fellow defender Jonny Evans will also miss the next three matches after a crude challenge on Bolton’s Stuart Holden saw him handed a straight red card on Saturday.”They have got a lot of injured players and some are suspended,” Cech added.”Anyway, we must keep winning and hope they drop points along the way.”Chelsea travel to Stoke City on April 2 in their next Premier League encounter, while United visit West Ham on the same day.
