According to a recent report from Kicker, Chelsea now consider Robin Gosens to be an alternative target to Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell this summer. The 26-year-old Atalanta defender has scored nine goals aleady in Serie A this season with eight assists, ensuring that he is now considered to be one of the club’s top stars.
The Blues have been looking into the possibility of bringing in some pretty big names during the summer window, but most of them have been forwards or attacking midfielders. If they’re serious about making a further push for the title next season, they need to be bringing in a few defensive reinforcements. After all, that’s one area they’ve really struggled with throughout the current campaign.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has a long term vision for what he wants to achieve at Stamford Bridge, and he isn’t going to get there without some balance at the back.
