According to a recent report from Le10 Sport, Chelsea have opened talks with Ligue 1 club Lille as they look into the possibility of signing forward Jonathan Ikone.
The 22-year-old, who was able to earn a call-up to feature in France’s national team squad earlier this season, has been attracting interest from a string of other clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Newcastle United.
One of the biggest criticisms that the Blues have faced since the restart has been their inability to keep other teams out defensively. Whenever they’re able to really get going up top they can cause all kinds of problems for anyone in the league, but they look vulnerable whenever they’re on the back foot for longer than a few seconds.
With that in mind, it makes sense for some fans to question whether or not going after a player like Ikone is the best use of their time.
