According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Chelsea are interested in trying to sign Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The 25-year-old has been viewed as either a credible challenger or replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga with fans continuing to speculate on whether or not Kepa will still be at the club by the time the new season rolls around.
The belief is that he will cost the Blues around €30 million, but as of right now, a formal offer has not yet been made. Maignan still has many years to grow as a goalkeeper, and while there are a few veterans within Chelsea’s ranks at Stamford Bridge, it does seem as if they’re leaning in favour of a youth movement at the club.
Now, as we look ahead to the future, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not they will put a substantial financial backing behind this potential deal – or whether it’ll fall through.
