Chelsea are interested in signing Sven Botman from Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk. The report has claimed that Chelsea are looking for a new central defender, and that Botman is on the radar of the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.
Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea at the end of the season when his current contract runs out. The Blues want to find a suitable replacement, and one of the players the London club have been impressed with is Botman. The 24-year-old is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and has been playing well for Newcastle since he joined the Magpies from Lille in 2022.
However, Newcastle are unlikely to make it easy for Chelsea to sign Botman. The Magpies do not like the idea of selling one of their best players to a direct rival for a European spot, but they do acknowledge that they would have to sell to buy.
