Chelsea are interested in signing Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich this summer, according to the Mirror.
The Blues are set for a major overhaul of their defensive ranks, with centre-backs Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger gone on free transfers to Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively. There has been much speculation about captain Cesar Azpilicueta too, whose contract has been extended until 2023. Barcelona are reportedly interested in his services as well, which would leave Chelsea short of options on the right defensive flank.
To that end, signing a player like Pavard would certainly make sense. With two years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, the France international has reportedly held talks with Bayern about the possibility of moving on this summer.
The 26-year-old has made a total of 119 appearances for the Bundesliga champions in all competitions, scoring five goals and producing 11 assists. Bayern signed him from VfB Stuttgard in 2019, for a reported fee of €35 million.
