Chelsea join chase for Zouma; Napoli eyeing N’Koulou, Rakitic

hot-transfer-newsChelsea join chase for Zouma

Daily Mirror is reporting that Chelsea are set to make a move on Saint Etienne starlet Kurt Zouma.

The talented defender has largely impressed in French Ligue 1 and is currently on the radar of top European clubs.

He was recently slapped with a ten-match ban for breaking an opponent’s leg, but that did not seem to have put off Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager reportedly sees Zouma as a good long-term replacement for John Terry and is keen to lure him to Stamford Bridge at the earliest opportunity.

Kurt Zouma has already made 50 Ligue 1 appearances for les Verts and is widely regarded as one of France’s most talented defenders.

The 19-year-old is a member of France Under-21 side, but he has already received two call ups for the senior team as well.

Napoli eyeing N’Koulou, Rakitic

Napoli are considering January bids for Marseille stopper Nicolas N’Koulou and Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Signing a central midfielder remains a priority for the Azzurri, but the 3-3 draw with Udinese proved that they also need to reinforce their back line.

As a result, Il Corriere dello Sport has suggested that Napoli are stepping up their efforts to sign Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou.

The 23-year-old is widely regarded as one of world’s top centre-backs and Napoli boss Rafael Benitez believes he would be an instant hit at Stadio San Paolo.

Meanwhile, the Azzurri are being linked with Sevilla star Ivan Rakitic, who has been performing at a very high level of late.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 7 goals in 14 league matches for los Rojiblancos this term, remains loyal to his club, but he could be tempted with a switch to Napoli.

Villarreal keen on Eredivisie goal machine

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has revealed that Villarreal are keeping close tabs on Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason.

The La Liga side had the striker watched for the second time this season as the Frisians lost to Feyenoord at the weekend.

And despite the 24-year-old having a disappointing night, the Yellow Submarine remain keen on his signature.

Alfred Finnbogason has been in scintillating form ever since he joined Heerenveen from Lokeren in the summer of 2012.

After scoring 24 goals in 33 league games during his first season at the club, the Iceland international has bagged no less than 14 goals in 13 league matches this term.

He is predicted a bright future in the game and looks set to leave his current employers for greener pastures in the coming months.

His suitors Villarreal currently sit just one point behind fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao and are priced at 15/8 to achieve a top 4 finish.
