Everton are set to sell their star midfielder Ross Barkley this summer as the player himself has already informed the club of his desire to leave Goodison.
Ross Barkley has been closely linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as Premier League runners-up look to make their first move in the transfer market, but English champions Chelsea are thought to have joined the race for the 23-year-old and could end up scrapping the Spurs’ plans.
The Blues are attempting to add more home-grown players to meet the requirements for next season and Barkley has emerged as one of the top transfer targets on their summer list according to Liverpool Echo.
The British media suggest that Everton’s valuation remains the only stumbling block as Chelsea – and Tottenham for that matter – are reluctant to cough up £50 million which is the amount Toffees are holding out for their star.
Spurs are believed to be looking at a more affordable £20 million, which is the amount Chelsea can compete with.
Having sold Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, Antonio Conte is looking to find a replacement and is also keeping an eye on Danny Drinkwater.
