Talk Sport is today reporting that Chelsea are ready to make a move for Vitesse Arnhem star Wilfried Bony in the January transfer window.
Bony has been performing extremely well in the Eredivisie this campaign and is enhancing his reputation as a very promising young talent.
The striker has scored an impressive 30 goals in just 46 appearances for the Dutch club and has attracted attention from a number of big European outfits recently.
Newcastle looked to be the most likely to try and land him in January, but now English Premier League rivals Chelsea are ready to do battle with the Magpies.
It is being suggested that the Blues will need to pay around the £8 million mark to bring the 23-year-old to Stamford Bridge and boost their attacking options in the New Year.
Roberto Di Matteo is of course desperate to bring in more front-men as he only has Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge to call upon right now.
Reports suggest that the Londoners will face a fight from Serie A though, as Udinese and Napoli are both keeping tabs on Bony and could make a bid as soon as the window re-opens.
We shall see.
