According to a recent report from ESPN, Sergio Romero is attracting attention from Chelsea and Juventus in the wake of his Manchester United exit.
The veteran goalkeeper always seemed destined to leave Old Trafford after slipping even further down the pecking order in recent months. While many don’t think it has all too much to do with his ability, others wonder whether or not he’s destined to serve as a back-up goalkeeper for the rest of his days.
Based on the two clubs that are in the mix, it certainly seems likely that Romero will be a back-up signing – but both could definitely do a lot worse.
We all know that many goalkeepers can keep going until their 40s and, in some instances, they can even get better as the years go on. Romero needs to be given some more first team opportunities in order for that to become true but at 34, he’s positioned well for the next chapter of his career.
