Ivory Coast striker Salomon Kalou has been offered a new contract by Chelsea.
Kalou’s current deal expires at the end of the season and the club are keen to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge after joining in 2006.
“Kalou was offered a contract and hopefully we will continue talks,” Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas told the club’s official website.
“In January these players are available to discuss their future. We’ll continue talks until we reach an agreement or not.”
“The fact that they are emotionally tied to this club – like Nico [Anelka] – too, means we can count on them while they are negotiating. Their loyalty to the club will never be in question,” Villas-Boas said.
Kalou has played 232 times for Chelsea in all competitions scoring 55 goals in his five years at Stamford Bridge.
