Chelsea keen on Benfica defender Antonio Silva

Chelsea are interested in signing Antonio Silva from Benfica in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Chelsea will send scouts to watch Silva in action for Benfica against Sporting Lisbon in the semi-finals of the Taca de Portugal this week.

Silva is one of the best young defenders in Europe and has been on the books of Benfica since 2016. He has come through the youth system and is now part of the first team. The 20-year-old Portugal international centre-back has scored two goals in 21 Portuguese league appearances this season.

Chelsea are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 35 points from 25 matches, as many as 17 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Benfica currently find themselves at the top of the Bundesliga table with 58 points from 23 matches, two points ahead of Sporting Lisbon, who have played 22 games.
