Chelsea keen on Chiriches; Sissoko dreams of EPL switch

FC Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches is reportedly attracting interest from defending European champions Chelsea, according to Chiriches’ representative Viktor Becali.

Chiriches, 22, has been linked with a move to Spanish giants FC Barcelona, while AC Milan are also scouting the Romania international.

In addition, Becali revealed that the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan and Russian Premier League moneybags Zenit Saint Petersburg are all interested in his client’s services.

Chiriches has started four UEFA Europa League matches for Roș-Albaștrii this season. He’s got one goal, which came against Danish outfit Molde on 25 October, to his name in the competition.made

At 22, Chiriches has already established himself as a first-team regular for both club and country. The Romanian centre-back has featured in eight matches for the Tricolorii in 2012-13, including four 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

“I can confirm that AC Milan are looking at the player,” Chiriches’ representative Viktor Becali told calciomercato.com.

“Milan’s sporting director (Ariedo) Braida has seen him play several times both for the national team and for his club team.

“There is nothing concrete yet, though, and it is too early to say what will happen.

“I don’t know if he could leave in January, it will depend on the offers which may arrive when the market opens.

“There are many clubs interested in Chiriches – Chelsea, Inter Milan and Zenit – but there is nothing concrete in place as yet.”

Chelsea skipper John Terry, who has had numerous problems both on and off the pitch in recent years, has proved to be unreliable once again this season.

Add a few David Luiz defensive howlers and you’ve got yourself a problem, with Chiriches a possible solution.

Sissoko dreams of EPL switch

France and Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko has revealed that it would be ‘a dream come true’ to play in the English Premier League, amid reports linking him with a move to Tyneside club Newcastle United, Sky Sports understands.

Sissoko, 23, has been a member of TFC’s starting XI for five years now, having earned his first international cap for France back in 2009.

Reports in France are suggesting that Sissoko could join the Magpies when the transfer window re-opens in January, but Toon boss Alan Pardew will likely have to spend a good chunk of change to secure the Frenchman’s signature.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with Sissoko in the past, but none of the two sides have made an official move for the defensive midfielder.

“To play in the Premier League would be a dream come true,” insisted Sissoko.

“It is a fantastic league and I enjoy watching it.

“Newcastle are a fantastic team and would be attractive to any player. I am no different.”

Alan Pardew has a habit of doing good business in France. Surely adding Sissoko to his squad would add to that impressive list of French signings.
