Chelsea line up Guardiola to replace under-fire Ancelotti

Roman Abramovich wants Pep Guardiola to replace Carlo Ancelotti, should the Italian leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The Blues are also looking to replace sporting director Frank Arnesen with Barca’s Txiki Begiristain, who has already met with Roman Abramovich and is reportedly keen on the post.

Frank Arnesen has resigned on Saturday and he will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti admitted he felt the pressure after the poor run of results, while he still holds a grudge against Abramovich after his assistant Ray Wilkins was sacked, so everything suggests the two sides will part ways at the end of the season.

The Chelsea owner wants his side to not only win titles but also entertain and seeing what Pep Guardiola has done with Barcelona, Abramovich is eager to bring the Catalan coach to Stamford Bridge.

Guardiola’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season and with no reports suggesting he will extend his current deal, the talented tactician will probably listen to offers next summer.
