Chelsea are set to make a surprise summer move for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert, according to the Mirror.
The Blues, who clinched their first Premier League title in five years with victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend, are in the market for a new forward with Diego Costa continuing to struggle with injury and Didier Drogba and Loic Remy likely to move on at the end of the season.
Lambert only moved to Anfield last summer, and has made just eleven starts in all competitions, scoring three goals.
Should a move to Stamford Bridge materialise, it would continue the 33 year old’s remarkable rise to prominence, with the forward having played in League Two ten years ago.
Internationally, the former Southampton man has been capped eleven times by England, scoring three goals, and was part of the squad that went to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil last summer.
