Chelsea and Liverpool paid out the most of English Premier League clubs to agents in the past year, according to figures released by the league.
While overall spending from October 2009 to September 2010 were down 3.5 million pounds on the previous year, Premier League clubs still handed out 67.1 million pounds to player representatives as part of transfer deals.
Chelsea led the way with 9.2 million, with Liverpool spending 200,000 pounds less.
Chelsea bought just two players in the period in Yossi Benayoun and Ramires, but racked up the figures courtesy of structured payments from previous deals.
Manchester City vastly reduced their spending from 12.8 million to 5.9 million pounds, with promoted club Blackpool’s 45,000 pounds the least spent of any Premier League club.
Overall transactions were down, from 792 deals to 742.
