Chelsea have been watching Fedor Chalov of CSKA Moscow closely, just in case their transfer ban is lifted at the Court of Arbitration for Sport ahead of the January window, according to Sky Sports.
The striker has so far scored five goals and assisted further four in the Russian Premier League. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is apparently a big fan of his 21-year-old compatriot, and the club will be looking to acquire his services if possible.
The Europa League winners are waiting anxiously to see if their appeal to have the transfer ban overturned is successful in mid-December. But in the meantime, their recruitment department is not idle and they are preparing for a busy window, having made no signings during the summer.
Chalov is most likely being considered for the role of backup for Tammy Abraham, with Olivier Giroud reportedly not happy in it. The 33-year-old Frenchman has been linked with departure from Stamford Bridge for a while now.
